Luminol, isoluminol, and their derivatives were the earliest compounds used in chemiluminescence reagents. They require coordination with catalysts and enhancers, which enhances the background luminescence of the system and increases the measurement background, limiting sensitivity to some extent. Acridin e ester and its derivatives have high photon yield, reduced background luminescence, and low measurement background. After coupling with proteins, antigens, antibodies, etc., their luminescence efficiency is almost unaffected with little interference, making them more suitable chemiluminescence immunoassay labeling reagents. Based on this, multiple acridin e derivatives with higher luminescence efficiency, better thermal stability, and stronger water solubility have been developed.
