What is Oxalyl Chleride ?
 

Oxalyl chlorlde is a commonly used chlorinating reagent that can be prepared by the reaction of oxalic acid and phosphorus pentachleride.
Oxalyl Chlorlde is used in the preparation of cardiolipin analogs which induce peroxidase activity by Cytochrome C. It is also used in the preparation of fluorescent indicators for cytosolic calcium.
Oxalyl chlorlde, also known as glyoxyl chloride, is an intermediate of benzoylurea insecticides such as flufenuron and chlorpyrifos in pesticides. It is also an intermediate of sulfonylurea herbicides such as Metsulfuron methyl, bensulfuron methyl and pyrsulfuron methyl. In addition, it can also be used in medicine as a raw material for the synthesis of antibiotics.
